Gone But Never Forgotten

after an age of healing,
I wonder if I truly want to wholly recover.
on the days like today, do I want to strike a smile?
do I want to forgive it all, and forget forever?
who wants the suffocating, sacred silence?
and who moves from echos of malicious crime?

my warriors are dead
but are they dead forever?
while their lives are no more,
I will let their names be alive,
with their stories never worn out,
and the uproar loud and clear,
I will mourn as I remember
I will remember to remember
that the strength, it doesn't falter
for the suffering puts end to the suffering
the turmoil carried on weathered shoulders
sets free my weeping soul
on this blessed land, now broken and torn

I promise to remember your names
I vow to recite your verses
even if it means to peel back my own skin
a constant bomb strapped to my heartbeat
a steady wire trapped to feet
blurred memory of bodies covering the ground
fear striken reflexes in search of a siren sound
guns swinging from the belts, barrels clinging
giggles that reduced to begging plea on knees
my little angels drapped in bloody sheets
do the robbers of our laughs deserve a name?
do the cowardly outrages mean a thing?
it's the stories of the suffering, and their tales
poems of dreamers, and songs of the heroes
that I yearn for to be heard
sorely missed and forever sung
far and wide, to be told
for each uproar tames my spirit
every spoken cry echoes in my soul
I tie my promises in knots
you'll see me rise with a strength like yours

  1. Strong and hard hitting. It's nice that someone still remembers the sacrifices of the martyrs.

    Liked these lines the most:
    I will remember to remember
that the strength, it doesn't falter
for the suffering puts end to the suffering
the turmoil carried on weathered shoulders
    sets free my weeping soul
on this blessed land, now broken and torn.

Not only should they be remembered, but their ideologies should also be followed so the lands are washed pure again, so these martyrs can live on in our memories here and can rest in peace in the heavens.

  2. Was going through your post: Ambition veiled. The pain and emotions are nicely versed. Very well written.

Had written something on similar lines. Would like you to read it:
